TSSA has reviewed its data on tanker trucks and it shows that issues related to tanker trucks are typically operational. To address that issue, TSSA seeks assurance that operators comply with the following:
- The CSA B620 periodic inspections and testing required by Transport Canada (B620 inspection and testing ensure the equipment is safe to operate).
- Ongoing driver training program that addresses the loading, unloading, testing emergency shut-down systems, visual inspection of the truck and associated equipment, and emergency response and reporting.
- New drivers are trained before operating tanker trucks unsupervised to ensure the safe operation of tanker trucks.
Please ensure that your inspection, testing and training programs are up-to-date and that you can produce verification documentation for inspection or auditing purposes.
For questions, please contact TSSA at 1-877-682-TSSA (8772).
