2026 Training Schedule

Enrollment is capped at 20 participants per course. Presentation materials in PDF format will be provided to participants before the course dates. Presentation materials mirror the instructor’s presentation and are ideal for note‑taking and reference. Participants are responsible for printing these materials if they wish to do so, or they may bring their computers.

The Technical Standards and Safety Authority (TSSA) invites you to provide feedback on the revised Code Adoption Document (CAD) for Boilers and Pressure Vessels. This is a minor revision that includes three errata, three clarifications, and one technical change.

Boiler and Pressure Vessel (BPV) clients can access additional online services through the TSSA Client Portal as of March 16, 2026. 

TSSA is integrating more core services into the Client Portal to streamline key processes and improve client experience. New services available on the Client Portal as of March 16, 2026, include:

• Nuclear and National submissions

• Certification and Exam Services: Apply online for examinations, reinstate certificates, apply for a certificate if you’re from outside Ontario, and obtain Training Provider accreditation. Computer-based examinations will be done in person at dedicated exam centres.

Automating services enhance clients’ ability to self-serve and access real-time updates on their applications. The online services’ step-by-step approach provides clear instructions that make it easier for clients to provide the required information and documents.

BPV clients can expect the following changes on March 16, 2026: 

• All BPV engineering services will be moved to the Client Portal. This includes National Service applications, which are currently submitted through the TSSA Prepayment Portal.

• Expedited engineering services will no longer be available, as turnaround times to process such applications have come down significantly. 

Temporary System Outage for Upgrade 

TSSA will perform a system upgrade to migrate more services online. As a result, the Client and Prepayment Portals will not be accessible starting on Wednesday, March 11 at 4:00 p.m. until Monday, March 16 at 8:00 a.m. EST. 

BPV clients who plan to submit requests or applications are strongly encouraged to do so before March 11 or after March 16, 2026. We seek your patience as TSSA’s response times may be affected during and immediately after the system upgrade.  

Sign Up for Client Portal 

If you are not yet a Client Portal user, follow these instructions to sign up. After creating access to the Client Portal, you must link your portal profile to your existing TSSA account to perform transactions, submit applications and access online services.
Account users can continue to access existing services on the Client Portal to:

• Submit and pay for applications available on the Client Portal. Please use the Prepayment Portal for other applications.
• View and download inspection reports, permits, licences, or certificates
• View issued orders
• Update your account and contact information
• Sign up for paperless invoicing

Starting January 1, 2026, manufacturers submitting registration for fittings used in pressure-retaining systems to the Technical Standards and Safety Authority will be required to use the new Declaration of Conformity form.

The current Statutory Declaration form used to register fittings that operate at pressure exceeding 15 psi will no longer be accepted after this date. This change is mandated by the CSA B51 (2024 Edition) Boilers and Pressure Vessels Code published by the Canadian Standards Association.

The revocation of the regulatory exemption on agricultural boilers and pressure vessels (BPVs) in July 2021 means that all repairs and alterations of BPVs, fittings and piping used for agricultural purposes must comply with Ontario Regulation 220/01: Boilers and Pressure Vessels under the Technical Standards and Safety Act, 2000.
 
Please advise your clients who own and operate agricultural BPVs to report existing equipment by completing the form here. 
 
When clients are requesting work on BPVs and piping, please handle these requests according to the process for regulated devices, which includes the following: 

• Contractors performing work on BPVs (for example, fabricators, contractors, assemblers or repair organizations of pressure equipment) must hold a valid Certificate of Authorization for the scope of activities.
   
• BPVs installed after July 1, 2021, must have a Canadian Registration Number (CRN).
   
• New piping or additions to existing piping systems require design registration and inspection. Please see guidelines for pressure piping registration for details and review the application forms and instructions for applying electronically.
