Home > Upholstered & Stuffed Articles > Label Requirements
All upholstered and stuffed articles offered for sale in Ontario must bear a label in a prescribed format as per Ontario Regulation 218/01 (Upholstered and Stuffed Articles).
The "White Label" Standard
The white label, found on an upholstered or stuffed article, confirms that the article can be legally sold in Ontario. It identifies the stuffing material contents by generic name and ensures that it is new material only. It also identifies the manufacturer's registration number.
The label must be securely affixed to all upholstered and stuffed articles before a consumer purchases them. If a label cannot be located TSSA should be contacted.
