Through a number of engineering services, the Technical Standards and Safety Authority (TSSA) reviews and registers passenger ropeway (ski lift) device designs to ensure compliance with the Technical Standards and Safety Act, as well as any other regulations or adopted safety codes and standards.
Design registration |
Our engineering group reviews passenger ropeway designs to ensure their compliance with Ontario safety codes and regulations.
To submit a design for registration, complete the Application for Registration of Design Submission and return to us by email or by mail to:
Technical Standards and Safety Authority Elevating and Amusement Devices Division 345 Carlingview Drive Toronto, ON M9W 6N9 |
Variance review |
We provide a variance review when a designer proposes a design that falls outside of the regulations and adopted safety codes. We may grant a variance for alternate designs to allow for flexibility without compromising safety. For more information on variance reviews, please contact Matthew Chan by email or by calling 416-734-3336. |
Consulting services |
Engineering consulting services are available for passenger ropeway devices where no established standards exist. We conduct a preliminary review of the device design to determine its compliancy with the Act and any other applicable regulations or safety codes prior to its production.
Consulting services are also available for code compliance and consultation on design submissions. |
