New Expiry Dates for the Amusement Sector and Additional Rebates to Eligible Licencees
Dear Valued Amusement Licencees,
In consideration of the ongoing economic hardships stemming from the COVID-19 pandemic, the Technical Standards and Safety Authority (TSSA) is pleased to announce several relief measures that it is facilitating for the amusement sector.
Licences and permits for all amusement devices renewed in 2022 will have a new expiry date of December 31.
Amusement devices with a valid permit for the 2021-2022 season will also be eligible to receive additional rebates for renewing permits until December 31, 2022.
New Expiry Date
Currently, amusement devices have three expiry dates:
- March 31 : Amusement Rides, Go-Karts, Waterslides
- May 31 : Inflatables
- June 30 : Ziplines
In 2023, calendar year billing will apply. That means all amusement devices (amusement rides, go-karts, waterslides, inflatables and ziplines) will have December 31 as the new expiry date.
As we transition to a billing cycle based on the calendar year, renewal fees for licences and permits for all amusement devices will be prorated from their current expiry date to December 31, 2022.
Additional Rebates
- Additional rebates in the form of the surplus from the financial support provided by the Government of Ontario from the past operating season are available to devices that were issued a valid permit for the previous 2021-2022 season.
