Extending Fee Relief to All Amusement Device Permits in Ontario
Partial permit waiver supports the recovery of the province’s amusement sector
Dear Valued Amusement Licensees,
As Ontario’s amusement sector gears up for reopening this summer, the Technical Standards and Safety Authority (TSSA) is pleased to announce that it is facilitating the reduction of fees by 75% for all amusement device permits until the end of 2022.
Those eligible for this financial relief include operators that did not renew or hold a permit for their device in 2021/2022. Device owners are required to pay only 25% of amusement permit fees.
Amusement device owners who receive a renewal invoice without the application of the 75% waiver should wait until they receive an adjusted invoice with the waiver applied before making payment. Owners who are eligible for the fee relief and have paid the invoice prior to the adjustment will be issued a refund for the fee relief portion.
The partial device fee waiver is funded by the Ontario government and supports the continued recovery of Ontario’s amusement sector from economic hardships stemming from the COVID-19 pandemic, while ensuring that strong public safety standards are maintained.
This relief measure applies only to amusement device permits. It builds on the previous financial relief that TSSA announced in February 2022.
