Peterborough Community Safety Campaign Kicks Off
Residents will receive a series of community safety messages for three weeks, before gathering on Community Safety Day for various interactive safety education exhibits and fun activities.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE (Peterborough, ON, October 30, 2019) – The Technical Standards and Safety Authority (TSSA), City of Peterborough and Peterborough Fire Services collaboratively launched a community safety campaign in Peterborough today called Working Together in Our Community – THINK SAFE.
“While Ontario’s many public safety organizations work tirelessly in their communities, residents also play a critical role in improving safety,” said Bonnie Rose, President and CEO, TSSA. “The goal of the Working Together in Our Community – THINK SAFE campaign is to raise awareness about a range of safety issues and actions that individuals and families in Peterborough can undertake.”
The campaign will run for three weeks and coincide with Carbon Monoxide Awareness Week which runs from November 1 to 7. Peterborough residents will receive details about carbon monoxide exposure and additional important safety information by mail and through local media.
Working Together in Our Community – THINK SAFE culminates with Community Safety Day on November 16 at Peterborough Sports & Wellness Centre from 12 to 4 p.m. Hosted by TSSA, this one-day community-oriented event will feature a variety of free activities and showcase educational and interactive exhibits, such as TSSA’s mobile carbon monoxide safety house, while enabling community safety partners to deliver valuable safety information in a unique and engaging way.
