Effective July 1, 2018, the Technical Standards and Safety Authority (TSSA) is introducing the following new fees under the BPV Safety Program:
- A Certificate of Inspection (COI) fee chargeable to owners of BPV devices
- A triennial audit fee for insurers licensed to underwrite boiler and machinery insurance
The COI fee is charged per device in accordance with the following fee schedule:
- $40 for devices with an annual inspection frequency
- $80 for devices with a two-year inspection frequency
- $115 for devices with a three-year inspection frequency
A triennial audit fee of $4,100 will apply to insurers who underwrite boiler and machinery insurance in Ontario. The audit fee for inspection agencies licensed by TSSA to inspect boilers and pressure vessels remains unchanged.
These new fees are approved by TSSA’s Board of Directors after careful consideration of the cost of implementing amendments to the Boilers and Pressure Vessels Regulation. The fees were developed in consultation with stakeholders and in accordance with the guidelines and principles set out in the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the Ministry of Government and Consumer Services and TSSA.
