Propane Advisory Council

In support of its strategic objectives to improve safety outcomes and recognizing the need for strategic oversight and management of safety regulations and issues, the Technical Standards and Safety Authority (TSSA) actively solicits the advice and input of the key stakeholders from the Propane industry through an advisory council.

The purpose of the Propane advisory council is to provide a forum through which TSSA can consult with industry relative to its safety strategies, and receive valuable input and advice to help guide TSSA's decision making and operations.

Membership
The Propane Advisory Council is comprised of representatives from the propane community. The following TSSA staff support Propane Advisory Council activities:
  • Mike Scarland is TSSA's Point Person for the Propane Advisory Council.  A Point Person is fully authorized by TSSA to insure completion of TSSA's commitments to Advisory Council activities. Point People all have specific expertise related to the advisory council sector or are functionally qualified to support advisory council activities. Point People act as TSSA's primary contact related to advisory council activities and are responsible delivering on TSSA's commitments with respect to advisory council activities.

  • TSSA's Council Coordinator supports all Advisory Councils through scheduling of meetings, preparation of agendas and meeting minutes and maintenance of all other Council records.  The Council Coordinator acts as TSSA's primary administration contact and is responsible for the effectiveness of TSSA's support of Advisory Council initiatives.

  • The President and CEO of TSSA attends Council meetings, as the role of the advisory councils is to advise her with respect to sector activities.

  • Advisory councils are attended by other TSSA staff, as required, to report progress on specific initiatives or to discuss specific issues.
