Piping Inspections
Pressure Piping Inspections
Exemptions
Refer to Section 2(2) of the Boilers and Pressure Vessel Regulation for a list of exemptions. Safety Bulletin SB00-7 on this site gives guidance on systems that are exempt from the Regulation.
General
Pressure piping is required to be designed and installed in accordance with a number of Codes and Standards. Refer to CSA-B51 and CSA-B52 for the applicable references and requirements.
Contact your local TSSA Inspector before starting the manufacture or installation of pressure piping.
Design Registration
Design Registration with TSSA is required for all pressure piping to be installed in Ontario. Please refer to the Design Registration portion of this website for the requirements for pressure piping.
Quality Program
A certificate of authorization from TSSA is required to perform pressure piping manufacture, installation or repairs.

Refer to Find a Certificate of Authorization Holder for a list of TSSA qualified pressure piping manufacture and installation organizations.
Inspection Requirements
The Inspector performs the inspection to the extent deemed necessary. Upon completion of the inspection, a Piping Systems Installation and Test Data Report Form is prepared and signed by the contractor and countersigned by the TSSA inspector, when the work is complete and acceptable.
