Upholstered and Stuffed Articles
TSSA conducts random and unannounced inspections of manufacturers, renovators, home hobbyists, importers/distributors, retailers and suppliers of upholstered and stuffed articles to ensure that material found in upholstered and stuffed products is in compliance with current safety regulations.

If safety standards have not been met, we can prosecute individuals and/or companies under the Ontario's Provincial Offences Act.

The "White Label" Standard
This white label, found on an upholstered or stuffed article, confirms that the article can be legally sold in Ontario. It identifies the stuffing material contents by generic name and ensures that it's new material only. It also identifies the manufacturer's registration number.

The label must be securely affixed to all upholstered and stuffed articles before you purchase them.
